Classic Square Slate Sundial
We can supply the Classic Slate with a plain gnomon (the shadow caster) instead of one with the word SUNDIAL engraved on it. When you order make a note of this in the special instructions box.
These unusual slate sundial are engraved on a solid sheet of slate, 1/2" to 3/4" (12 to 20mm) thick, with a gnomon that casts theshadow. Slate is a natural material already present in many gardens and impervious to the ravages of our weather. And being a natural material it will vary in dimensions and finish.
Slate sundials make a stunning focal point in any garden. Set upon a pillar they will draw the eye to the centre of your garden. The dials are set up to show solar time so a mental adjustment has to be made to bring these in line with British Summer Time. Whilst not precision instruments they will tell the passing of time.
It is not possible to engrave directly on our sate sundials but we can supply a brass plaque engraved with a dedication of your choice, which can be mounted on the sundial plinth, making a slate sundial a memorable and unique gift.
