Personalise your Sundial

Want a personalised or engraved sundial?   Many of my sundials can be personalised with a dedication or motto of your choice engraved on the sundial itself, which will make them a unique and memorable gift to celebrate a:

• Birthday
• Christening
• Wedding
• Anniversary
• Retirement
• Christmas

Alternatively I can supply a brass plaque which can be fixed to the plinth or pedestal.

• Brass plaques where we can not engraved directly on the sundial.
• Armillary Sundials - 90 to 360 characters on the top band of the sundial.
• Spot On Gnomons (the shadow caster) can be engraved with between 120 and 360 characters.
• Andromeda flat sundials - one line on the dial itself. 40 to 70 characters.
• Phoenix flat sundials - several lines on the sundial itself. 360 to 480 characters.
• Zodiac Sundials - astrological sign plus text on the sundial itself.
• Wall Mounted (Small) - up to 60 characters on the top bar of the sundial
• Bird Sundial - 2 lines of 20 characters in each directly on to the Bird sundial
• Mercury Slate Sundials - text directly on to these slate sundials

The text you want engraved can be added to your order at the bottom of each sundial page along with any special instructions.  On each page the recommended maximum number of characters (including spaces) is specified.  You can exceed this number but the characters may be a bit squeezed up.

We will acknowledge your order and send you a layout out of the intended engraving.  Please check and email us with any amendments or your approval.  We will not start work until we receive your approval.  As this may affect the intended delivery date your approval is crucial.

Brass Plaques for any sundial from £10

These are available in brass in 2 sizes as shown below.

The smaller one measures approximately 3 1/2" by 1 1/2" (9cm by 4cm) and has space for up to 3 lines each with a maximum of 25 characters making a total of 75 characters including spaces.  Price - £10.

The large plaques measures 4 1/2" by 2" (10 by 5cm) and can be engraved with up to 4 lines of 30 characters in each making a total of 120 characters including spaces.  Price £20

Armillary Sundials from £17.50 for 90 characters

The top bar of many of my armillary sundials can be engraved with a dedication of your choice.  In the photos on this website most of the armillary sundials are shown with this bar at the bottom. It is a simple matter to move the bottom bar to the top - as the photo below shows.  The photo on the left shows our Courtyard sundial with the thin band at the bottom.  The photo on the right shows this same bar moved to the top so that your engraving can be seen.  Prices start at £17.50 for 90 characters.

This top bar can be engraved on one side or, as shown in the photo below, both sides of the centre.

Bespoke engraving is not available on the Ptolemy Celeste which is pre-engraved with a quotation from Shakespeare.

Spot On Engraved Gnomon from £10

One or both sides of the gnomon (the shadow-caster) on the Spot On Sundial can be engraved with your own dedication of your choice.

Phoenix - engraved dedication included in our price

The price of our Phoenix sundials includes a dedication of your choice engraved on the dial plate.  The number of characters that can be engraved on each size of our Phoenix sundials are shown below.  There is no fixed number of lines - the text can be laid out in a variety of ways.

If you can provide a logo or image in an EPS form we may be able to engrave this as well.  But we can only accept EPS files.  Word, GIF and JPEG files are not compatible with our engraving software and can only be used if you can convert these to EPS.
