Finish - What you can expect Our sundials are garden ornaments designed to be used outside where they will be subject to the ravages of our weather. Our stainless steel sundials are fabricated from surgical grade mirror-polished stainless steel which gives an almost perfect finish. To ensure that this finish is maintained it is essential that these are handled with extreme care preferably wearing gloves. Slate is a natural material and will have imperfections that are unavoidable. Whilst the tops are sanded down to give an even finish they are not finished to a "table-top" smoothness and here will be grains and etches in the surface. Once the slate sundial has "weathered" down these slight imperfections will be unnoticeable. Similarly our brass sundials are designed for the outdoor and therefore made out of marine quality brass. While these are buffed before they are packed they do not have the high polish finish you may have seen on engravers brass which is usually used for indoor items. So there will be a few streaks and polishing marks on the surface. Once again these will soon weather down when expose to our weather. |
