Mercury Round Slate Sundial
These unusual slate sundials are engraved on a solid sheet of slate, 1/2" (1.25cm) thick, with a 6 (15cm) high brass gnomon that casts the shadow. Slate is a natural material already present in many gardens and impervious to the ravages of our weather.
Slate sundials make a stunning focal point in any garden. Set upon a pillar they will draw the eye to the centre of your garden. The dials are set up to show solar time so a mental adjustment has to be made to bring these in line with British Summer Time. Whilst not precision instruments they will tell the passing of time.
Our Mercury range of slate sundials can be engraved with your personal dedication or motto. On the 9" Mercury we can engrave 70 or so characters at the bottom of the dial.
