Spot On RHS - Square Base £245

Spot On precision sundials offer unrivalled accuracy because of their unique split gnomon as shown in the first 2 photos above. The gnomon (which casts the shadow) is split with a small light gap; at midday a line of sunlight shines through this allowing the sundial to be set up with almost absolute precision.

Brass Spot On sundials have a round hour plate mounted on either a round or square base as shown above

These precision sundials are machined in polished brass and engraved on the inside with roman numerals (I, II, III, IV) for the summer and outside with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4) for the winter These can be seen in the photo at the bottom right.

Engraving Option:

One or both sizes of the gnomon (the diagonal shaft that casts the sun's shadow) on the Spot On sundial can be engraved with a motto or dedication of your choice.

We recommend no more than 2 lines of 90 characters on each side. More can be engraved but they are liable to be squeezed up.

Setting up:

At 12 o'clock noon set your sundial so the slice of light through the split gnomon is on the XII numeral - see the photos at the top of the screen. Full instructions are given in our Instruction Manual.

Fixing options:

The top of the Spot On is secured to the base with a security key (supplied). Once your Spot On has been oriented correctly the top can be removed and the base screwed down to your plinth (there are 4 pre-drilled fixing holes. The top can then be securely locked to the base preventing access to those screws and so providing unrivalled security. Full instructions are supplied with your sundial
